From there, the project began, transcending the time difference between Japan and the UK. True to its name, once SuperDuo started working on a project, ideas began to bubble up.
As 2025 dawned, we realised that a year had passed since the Noto earthquake.
In January 2025, the framework for the event began to take shape.
In addition to SuperDuo’s performance, there would be a video introducing Suzu, a team of Japanese and British volunteers called ‘MandeMaiSuzu’ would be formed to provide lunch, the event would be streamed online from St. Mary’s Church, which would serve as the venue, and there would be time to connect with volunteers in Suzu and the UK online on the day of the event, as well as sales of salt specialising in Suzu, also dancing the traditional Suzu work song ‘Suna-tori-bushi’ with the British audience, and even a crowdfunding campaign alongside the event
— it had grown into a major event
そこから、日本とイギリスの時差を超えてShimaとMidoriのプロジェクト制作が始まりました。
SuperDuoの名前の通り、一旦制作を始めるとアイデアがどんどん膨らみます。
そんな中2025年を迎え、能登地震から1年の月日が流れたことを実感しました。
1月、イベントの枠組みを整理してみると…。
SuperDuoの演奏に加えて、珠洲を紹介するビデオ作成、イギリス現地の日本人とイギリス人ボランティアグループ「MandeMaiSuzu」チームを立ち上げた昼食、会場となるS t .Mary’s教会からのオンライン配信、当日珠洲の有志の方とイギリスをオンランで繋ぐ時間、珠洲特産の塩の販売、、珠洲に伝わる労働歌「砂取節」をイギリスの皆さんと踊る時間、さらにイベントと併せてクラウドファンディングも行うという一大イベントに膨れ上がっていました。
